I love yarn pom poms, and it’s so easy and fun to make! All you need is a fork with four tines and yarn!
1) Start off with a string of yarn cut about 10-12 inches in length. Place the string between the two middle tines, and just let it hang downward (half of the string should hang in front of the fork, and the other half should hang behind it). This string will be the piece that you’ll use to tie it all together in the end.
2) Take your roll(s) of yarn and wind it around the base of the fork. If you’re using more than one color like I did, just align all the yarn at the top end. Wrap it around the root of the tines, keeping it attached to the ball of yarn. Keep wrapping and wrapping. The bigger you want the pom pom, the more you wrap. The smaller you want it, the less you wrap.
I attached this pom pom to the end of the infant crochet elf hat I made for a good friend. So cute!
