Memorial Day – a day to remember our nation’s fallen heroes who served to protect our country and our freedom. We should salute, honor and THANK them everyday for their sacrifice.
To show my support, I painted my nails red, white and blue. Why wouldn’t I? It’s the emblem of the land I love, the home of the free and the brave. I mean, doesn’t every heart beat true ‘neath the red, white and blue? Mine sure does.
Here’s how you can get your hands to wave like our grand old flag! Begin by applying a base coat. Then, apply two coats of the patriotic colors in whatever order you want. I tend to favor making the ring finger a different color than the rest, but this time, I ended up accenting the pinky with pearl white and a coat of blue glitter instead. The nice thing about this is that you can do whatever you want!
To make the polka dots, open up a bobby pin and straighten it out. Then, dip one end into the bottle of polish, and lightly dab dots onto your nails. To get a better idea of this process, see my Valentine’s Day Nails.
For the stripes, use painter’s or masking tape, and cut a small piece into thin strips. Position the tape wherever you want the stripes to appear on your nails. I decided to do three red stripes over a blue nail, so I used four strips of tape. Then, paint between the tape, and wait for it to dry before you peel it off.
Seal it with a top coat, and forever in peace may you wave! Happy Memorial Day!
