“If you a fly gal, get your nails done.  Get a pedicure, get your hair did.”  The duo loves Missy Elliott!

That said, are you ready for Valentine’s Day yet?  I just finished making my husband’s Siri Valentine’s Day E-card, so I’m super excited about that.  While you’re getting gifts together for your bae, don’t forget to take care of yourself too!

After I finished my husband’s e-card, I rewarded myself by getting my nails did, and by “getting my nails did,” what I mean is I “did it myself.”  Ha!  This cheapskate never gets professional manicures or pedicures!  It’s just not worth it to me.  I’d rather use that money towards a bunch of nail polish I could keep for myself!  And with a bobby pin, the sky’s the limit with all the nail art you can do!

Here’s how to do your own Valentine’s Day mani:

Start with a base coat.  Not only does this protect your fingernails from turning yellow, it also helps the polish stick onto your nails more easily.  Then choose two colors (I happened to be in a blue and hot pink kind of mood today).

Paint two to three coats of your main color (I ended up doing three coats).

Open up a bobby pin, and use it to make your nail designs.  TSTL!  Do whatever comes to mind; at least that’s what I did!  Sure, I could’ve taken more time on my thumb (yes, I know the dots connect when they shouldn’t), but hey, I think it adds character!  Really, I was just too lazy to redo it.  Ha!

End with a top coat, and there you have it!  The not-so-perfect-thumb.  Still cute though, right?  Happy Valentine’s Day!
